honey

In Ayurveda honey is called as "Madhu".
uses of honey:--
Honey is very good for eyes and eye sight.
It quenches thirst.
Dissolves kapha.
Reduces effects of poison.
Stops hiccups.
It is very useful in urinary tract disorders, worm infestations, bronchial asthma, cough, diarrhea and nausea, vomiting.
Cleanse the wounds.
It heals wounds.
Helps in quick healing of deep wounds.
Initiates growth of healthy granulation tissue.
Honey which is newly collected from bee hive increases body weight and is a mild laxative.
Honey which is stored and is old helps in metabolism of fat and scrapes Kapha.
Precautions to be taken before using honey:
Honey should not be mixed with hot foods.
Honey should not be heated.
Honey should not be consumed when you are working in hot environment where you are exposed to more heat.
Honey should never be mixed with rain water, hot and spicy foods, and fermented beverages like whisky, rum, brandy etc, ghee and mustard.
Honey includes nectar of various flowers of which some may be poisonous. Poison has hot or Ushna qualities. When honey is mixed with hot and spicy foods the poisonous properties get enhanced and cause imbalance of doshas.
Few Home remedies with Honey
Mix 2 teaspoons of honey with carrot juice and consume regularly. This helps to improve eyesight and is very helpful for those who sit before computer for long hours.
In cold, cough and congested chest mix 2 teaspoons of honey with equal quantity of ginger juice and should be consumed frequently.
A mixture of black pepper powder, honey and ginger juice in equal quantities, when consumed thrice daily help to relieve the symptoms of asthma.
Regular use of one teaspoon of garlic juice mixed with two teaspoons of honey help to control blood pressure.
One glass of warm water taken with two teaspoons of honey and 1 teaspoon of lemon juice in early morning reduces fat and purifies blood.
Consuming one spoon of honey daily help us to lead a healthy long life.
Honey and lukewarm water can be taken in the ratio 1:1 to which a teaspoon of cinnamon powder can be added. This can be powdered and massaged on the affected part of the body. Arthritic patients can find relief within 15 minutes of massaging, in most cases.
Also drinking a cup of warm water to which honey and cinnamon powder is added helps in relieving symptoms of Arthritis regularly.
Researches indicate that Arthritic patients when treated with a mixture of honey and cinnamon regularly in the morning on empty stomach, there was significant relief in pain of the patients.
CHOLESTEROL: Honey and Cinnamon can be taken in the ratio of 2:3 tablespoons respectively and added to about 16 ounces of tea. On regular drinking of this mixture, patients with high cholesterol levels can find significant drop in their cholesterol levels.Adding honey and cinnamon to warm water or when the mixture is taken early in the morning regularly, it helps in relieving symptoms.
Medical reports indicate that honey can even be consumed by adding to regular food for improvement in high cholesterol patients.
INFERTILITY :Ayurveda has been advising honey as a medication for men with problems of impotence and women with problems related to Infertility. A drink of warm milk to which honey is added is believed to increase sperm count considerably. Sexual virility is interlinked with three major body organs in men, and these organs utilize glucose and fructose for gaining energy. Honey, is the best source of these sugars.

Dronpushpi

Dronpushpi is a problematic weed for farmers, it is a tasty potherb for many rural people and a valuable medicinal herb for herbalists and is cultivated for herbal drugs in some parts of India. Dronpushpi can be seen easily in rainy season.In tribal regions of India, Dronpushpi is a valuable drug for snake bite.The juice extracted from leaves is used to cure skin problems. In rainy season, many Indian tribal communities take bath with water having Dronpushpi leaf extract.They also wash their cattle and other domestic animals with this water. According to Ayurveda, the plant is mild stimulant and diaphoretic and used in fevers and coughs. The flowers mixed in honey is used as domestic remedy for cough and colds . Anti bacterial activity of Leucas aspera leaf extract against Micrococcus pyogenes and Escheria coli have also been reported. Dronpushpi is valuable homoeopathic drug and as such is used for the treatment of chronic malaria and asthama .
